Salted Caramel Brownies

Yield: 12 brownies


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce (see my recipe here)

  • Sea salt for sprinkling


Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar until well combined.

3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

4. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.

5. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish.

6. Drizzle the salted caramel sauce over the batter, then top with the remaining batter.

7. Use a knife to swirl the caramel into the brownie batter.

8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.

9. Remove from the oven and sprinkle sea salt over the top of the brownies.

10. Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.
